About the event
Lights, camera, legacy!
Join us this May in Milan for the 2nd Annual Night at the Movies with Mr. Edison—an evening celebrating the early magic of motion pictures in the very hometown of one of cinema’s pioneers.
This special program will feature a curated screening of five early Edison-era films:
College Chums (1907)
The Kleptomaniac (1905)
Life of an American Fireman (1905)
The Stenographer’s Friend (1910)
How Jones Lost His Roll (1905)
These groundbreaking short films helped shape the language of cinema and demonstrate the innovation and storytelling that defined the birth of the motion picture industry.
The evening will also include a special appearance by “Thomas Edison,” along with remarks from Robert Wheeler, Thomas Edison’s great-great-grandnephew, who will share insights into Edison’s life, inventions, and his lasting impact on film and American innovation.
In partnership with Ohio Goes to the Movies and America 250-Ohio, this event is part of the statewide celebration of America’s 250-year journey—highlighting how creativity, curiosity, and big ideas have shaped our nation.
🎥✨ Experience the films that started it all—right here in Edison’s hometown.
