Health and Safety
At the Edison Birthplace Museum, the health and safety of visitors and staff are our top priorities. We've implemented rigorous safety measures aligned with federal and state guidelines, including regular cleaning with high-grade disinfectants and occupancy limits for tours. Our trained staff helps maintain these practices. We're committed to offering a safe and enjoyable experience as you explore the remarkable story of Thomas Edison.
Visitor Information
The site welcomes visitors seasonally with different hours, which you can check here. Our guided tours are available in English. We suggest dedicating at least an hour to explore the Birthplace, the office, and the Don Gfell Education Center.
Regrettably, service animals and comfort or support animals cannot be admitted. Due to the historical design of the Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum, we are currently unable to offer wheelchair access or cater to those with disabilities. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
There is always free parking available for visitors. Access to the museum's public store is complimentary. To help preserve our historic site, smoking and vaping are not allowed.
Safety For Our Visitors
To ensure everyone’s safety, the birthplace may shut down the museum when there's hazardous weather. Guests with unused tickets can visit our ticket office for an exchange, provided they have their receipts. Stay updated by following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest announcements.

A photo session requires advance booking if it involves: hiring a professional photographer, using any equipment beyond a camera and tripod, outfit changes, props of any kind or size, shooting in locations that will disturb the visitor experience, accessing prohibited areas, shooting outside regular hours, or needing the help of Edison Birthplace staff or volunteers.
Photo sessions for weddings, special occasions, and commercial photography or filming are allowed by appointment only. A 7-day notice and a fee are required. For more information, please contact Kaitlyn Brulia, Development Director, at kbrulia@tomedison.org.
